Dubai: Emirates introduces its brand-new $300 million in-flight entertainment system, which includes a QLED display and integrated WiFi.

With Thales’ cutting-edge AVANT Up technology, blind people can also have an immersive experience.

The AVANT Up system from Thales has been chosen by Emirates for its upcoming fleet of Airbus A350 aircraft, which is due for delivery in 2024.

With an investment of more than $350 million from the airline, its 50-strong A350 fleet will be fitted with cutting-edge inflight entertainment systems that provide a remarkable cinematic and individualised passenger experience.

Only aeroplane displays leverage Samsung’s QLED technology to immerse viewers in more than a billion colours, Thales’ AVANT Up system’s game-changing technology includes Optiq 4K QLED HDR displays.

The updated “live” television solution offered by the new Thales system will give a wider selection of live television and news in the highest definition at 40,000 feet.

With Optiq, the first smart display in the market to offer two Bluetooth connections, built-in Wi-Fi for passengers to pair multiple devices, including phones, tablets, headphones, and even game controllers, as well as supporting up to 60 watts of USB-C to fast-charge personal devices, Emirates’ passengers can also look forward to improved passenger connectivity.

Emirates has selected a number of AVANT Up digital services, including highly integrated personalization features, extended PED capabilities, and user interface improvements that also allow visually impaired passengers to enjoy an immersive experience, to further promote passenger engagement.

Additionally, Emirates is the first airline in the world to deploy Thales’ Pulse, a proprietary power management system that guarantees charging performance will be unaltered regardless of how many users are charging their devices concurrently.

According to Adel al Redha, chief operating officer of Emirates, “Emirates has always regarded in-flight entertainment as an essential aspect of our onboard experience.” In fact, over 30 years ago, we were the first airline to install personal screens in every seat on board, when that was hardly commonplace. Emirates ICE has won the best-in-the-sky awards continuously for the past 14 years, and it continues to offer the best inflight entertainment content and experiences. We will extend our lead and provide an even better customer experience thanks to our investment in next-generation Thales systems for our new A350 aircraft. Observe this space”
